I’m not going to get into the debate, but if your mentality towards the whole thing is like that of Chris Shively… seriously? I hate how people believe they just automatically deserve something for free.

Quote from an Alternative Press story:

In 2006, Chris Shively, 27, a DJ from Chicago who performs asĀ CHRISSY MURDERBOT broke his arm very badly and required surgery.

Chrissy Murderbot

“They put a metal plate and eight screws in my wrist, a procedure for which I owe about $10 thousand that I still haven’t paid. In any other developed country, this procedure would’ve been free, and it damn well ought to have been free in the richest country on earth.”

Really? So you get hurt, go to a hospital, have doctors work on you and supply you with medical items and products… and you think this ought to have automatically been free?

I’m not sure how I feel about my generation.

Health care should not be free….

but everyone should have the opportunity to buy health insurance. And unfortunately, due the insurance companys’ pre-existing conditions policies, many people didn’t/don’t have that opportunity.

  2. That is my main problem. Pre-condition is a scam and absolute bullshit. When you move or change health care insurers they check your entire history. I got screened when I got my insurance after I got off my parent’s. I almost didn’t get covered cause I went to the dr. 3 times in 2008 with throat problems. WTF.

  3. My main point relates to the people who feel it’s a right to get something for free, or even the socialistic viewpoint that some people seem to have. Somehow it practically became a crime to work hard AND succeed in this country.

The pre-existing condition thing is another situation entirely. One one hand, it makes logical sense because why would a company take on a patient who is sure to cost them $1,000,000 when they won’t be paying $1,000,000 back to the insurance company? On the other hand, the companies use it as a ridiculous method to keep some people from getting coverage and it’s also a shame when some people can’t get coverage because of that.

I myself have not had health insurance in years. I also haven’t been to the doctor in years. I have avoided going to the doctor for a few issues (chest pains, vitiligo, possible GERD and other things) because I don’t want a preexisting condition before I get afford insurance again. I’m nowhere near being able to afford insurance, so it looks like I’m waiting until I’m forced to buy health insurance that I won’t really be able to afford.

Another creative type that actually has a conservative attitude towards this. I’m not alone.

So glad I’m not alone on this either. I couldn’t agree more with the “Somehow it practically became a crime to work hard AND succeed in this country.” part. What comes to mind are the people who think it’s wrong for people to make billions and that they should split it with broke people when they’ve worked hard their entire lives to be successful. They didn’t sit on the couch and complain like the ones complaining now. It’s just another type of person who think that they deserve things for free without doing a damn thing.

My respect for you just jumped about 20points. So tired of people expecting things from others instead of expecting them from themselves.
